Cabcool

The Challenge

Unreliable air conditioning units which are costly to run and require routine maintenance, causing passenger trains to be taken out of service regularly.

The Solution

Design and develop a compact solid state air conditioning product to replace existing unreliable air conditioning units with a more robust unit that uses less energy and requires minimal maintenance.

The Outcome

Cabcool has been developed by Creactive Design for rail applications.
It has been running faultlessly in the cabs of London Underground’s Victoria Line fleet since 2005 and has now been fitted to their Circle Line vehicles.
It uses less energy than conventional air conditioning systems but can achieve similar comfort levels and is proving to be much more reliable in the hostile rail environment.
Its applications are not limited to Metro vehicles and it has been selected by Porterbrook for their Class 319 main line rolling stock.
